Inspired by living with Bell's Palsy
This exceptionally intricate piece captures the anatomical layers of the human face along with a glimpse of the brain. Inspired by my living with Bell’s Palsy for 20 years, I wanted to celebrate the real beauty underneath our skin. To the scale of the human head, it took many weeks of stitching with single strands and dozens of shades until my fingers were too sore to carry on. I love the result though and now think it’s one of my very best pieces!
